7 Ways to Find Your Light
[12.3.24] As a summer person, the early dusk and late dawn has made my energy level dip noticeably. I started to go to bed late, craving screen time (artificial light), cheese, and sugar. Has this happened with you?
Recently I won 5 infrared sauna sessions in a drawing. Yay. But I dreaded schlepping weekly to the spa, changing clothes, and rushing back for calls.
Turned out that it was exactly what I needed.
The sun had moved into the scattered, spreading fire of Sagittarius (11/21-12/21). The search for meaning/truth, principles, beliefs, travel, publishing, and possibilities are themes. After the decay, death, and deep processing of Scorpio, we celebrate the phoenix that rises.
The universe orchestrated my opportunity to experience warmth and light. In the closet-size sauna, next to glowing rays nestled in wooden planks, I happily sweat and bid toxins and negativity goodbye. I meditated on the chakras, recalled the Nutcracker Suite (been listening to it since October). I’d exit the spa with a reddened face and big grin. Lighter, present.
The sauna reminded of the summer days I so miss.
That saying, can’t beat them, join them — I am joining the darker days with tools to thrive, instead of looking to fast forward to March.
I invite you to find the light within and without this season. Set aside time now to ‘ping’ your mind, body, and spirit. Some suggestions:
- Soup: Check out my 3 simple GF soup recipes here, use Search box on the right for ‘soup’. Here’s one: Easy Root Noodle Soup.
- Find meaning in routine: In the busy-ness of the day, take a moment to remember your why. What was the intention behind your activities? Why is it important? Is it still important?
- Keep refreshed this season: What do you need to feel this time of year? What are creative, easy ways to get them?
- Reach in deep and reaffirm your magic: What inspires you, and how can you fan the fire (Sagittarius)? Take a morning or afternoon of quiet to commune with your spirit. Intuit with oracle decks (I love Wisdom of Oracle, Universal Waite deck, and guidebook), doodle in a sketchbook, or journal with guides — form a question base on your intentions, invite your spirit guides, and write whatever comes to mind.
- Rebel a little: What does your inner child yearn for? In The Power of Fun, the author writes that fun is connective to a person (not passive like watching TV), creative, and playful. Defy habits. Do something different to loosen stuck energy.
- OK to rest: Take advantage of the darker time to slow down, sleep in, read a book, go on social media break. This Sagittarius season is coming up against Saturn (pause) during Mars (energy) and Mercury (thought) in retrograde — potentially lower energy level. Good time to reflect, recharge, and restore.
- Celebrate that 1 thing: In addition what traditionally are rejoiced this season, appreciate one thing about yourself and 3 loved ones. Focus on those, meditation how it’s a gift for you and others, and bathe it in golden light.
